How to pack your flowers

to ensure they arrive safely

Book your collection in advance of your special day or event with Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed before 9am.

Or drop them off in person if you are local to Cambridgeshire, or at my secure studio location. Please let me know your preferred method in advance so I can accommodate your needs.

Note: Royal Mail will not deliver on Sundays. If your wedding is Friday–Sunday, drop them off.

Choose your box

Find a box roughly 61 × 46 × 46 cm (Royal Mail dimensions), depending on the size and shape of your flowers. I do recommend a cardboard florist vase.

It must also be under 2 kg for Royal Mail, or check your chosen courier’s weight restrictions.

If you are physically unable to drop off the flowers, please speak to me directly. I can usually arrange something when given enough notice.

Fill the void spaces

Pack the void areas around the base of your box using newspaper or old paper. This prevents rocking during transportation.

!Please only use paper. Never cover with plastic or cellophane. This will cause your blooms to sweat and rot, and I may be unable to work with them if this happens.

Prepare & place your flowers

Sit them in a vase with water until you are ready to transport. Do not include the vase or water in the delivery box. I am unable to return it, it makes the box heavy, and the blooms will flop.

Stems wrapped in moist paper towel — Moisten (not soaking wet) paper towels.

Paper towel secured with an elastic band — Wrap around the base of the stems and secure with an elastic band.

Foil wrapped over the wet towel — Wrap over the wet towel with foil and secure with an elastic band.

Bouquet in a paper vase standing in a box — Place in your paper vase in the centre of your box.

Stems propped with newspaper balls in a box — Or prop with balls of newspaper if you don’t have a paper vase.

Closed and taped cardboard box — If the package feels loose once the lid is closed, pack around some more so petals don’t shake off.

Final steps: label, seal & send

Include your name and contact details on a piece of paper. If you do not add this I may not know which flowers belong to whom. This is essential, because I begin drying as soon as I receive them, and some flowers have to be dried flat and some in 3D.

Note with name, phone, email, event date and collection date — Name, phone, email, event date, collection date.

Hi, I’m Takara.

I’m Takara, a flower preservationist working from my home studio in Cambridgeshire. I preserve wedding bouquets and other flowers you cannot bear to lose. Each piece is resin, made by hand, one at a time.

The work is naturalistic and a little wild. I love meadow flowers, and I try to keep as many of your blooms as the piece will honestly hold. Most pieces are resin. If you have something unusual in mind, I make my own moulds.

If you are unsure what will work, send me a photograph. I would rather give you a clear answer than let you post flowers that cannot be preserved well.
